Breaking News: CIS of Tacoma is one of the first four local CIS programs in the nation to receive full accreditation. This was a big project, and it's a huge honor to be among the leading CIS' in the nation.

   Why We Do What We Do: A safe, supportive and healthy school environment is crucial to effective student learning. That's why CIS of  Tacoma works so hard to connect local

  community resources to the children in our schools. Our goal is to reduce the negative impacts of health and economic problems while delivering what we call, "The five basics."

   Program Goals:
     ·         Improve family involvement with the school and community
     ·         Increase healthy lifestyle behavior choices
     ·         Increase volunteer mentors
     ·         Increase student academic achievement
     ·         Increase the number of one-on-one relationships formed between students and caring adults
     ·         Increase relationships between the schools and our valued business partners

  Last year celebrations and accomplishments included:

    .        We served more than 800 kids in our after school programs
    .        We helped 77 percent of the students served reach grade level in reading
    .        Served more than 4,000 family members at our school sites
    .        Provided backpacks to more than 3,000 kids in our community
